More Entrepreneurs Taking Second Jobs

Good for extra cash, networking opportunities

When times are tough - or even when everything's near-perfect - it can be quite nice to have an additional source of income.  And, although it might be better still if everyone could just win the lottery and retire, a number of small business owners appear to be accepting this as they take on second jobs.

A second job can provide you with enough cash to get over a rough patch, or act as a safety net if things get really bad.  Or, under more ideal conditions, a second job may just bring in extra spending money so that you can make some fun purchases.  An Amazon spending spree is always enjoyable, right?

Regardless of what's going on, a second job is likely to expose you to a whole new set of people, so it'll enable you to accomplish more business networking, too.

Anyway, Raymund Flandez reports, "Some 18% of owners surveyed in April said they are working a second job, according to the latest findings from the American Express Open Small Business Monitor.  Many of them have sacrificed their personal finances and have stopped taking a salary to deal with the current economic reality."

One last idea: Give a thought to doing any job-hunting sooner rather than later, just in case it's hard to find another position.

Being your own boss is the solution

With the economic crisis that our nation is facing, many people are using this as an opportunity to pursue their dream of being their own boss. Living life on their own schedule while creating a financial future that is reccession proof.
