Pretty much everybody accepts that, sooner or later, the economy will return to normal and small businesses will be able to get loans once again.  But the timetable is pretty unclear, and so the Forum of Private Business is still fighting to make sure all of this occurs in the near future.

FPB representatives are going to attend the Government's Growth Capital Review workshop, at which figures from the financial industry are going to address four questions.  The first one is simply "Is there is a failure in the supply of long term finance to support growth of SMEs?"

Then comes "What is the size and nature of the gap in financing (if it exists), and which SMEs does it affect?"

Finally, we get to "Should Government seek to intervene, and if so, what are the options for doing so?"  Plus, "What would be the appropriate approach to the delivery of any Government interventions?"

The workshop will take place on July 1st, so if you'd like to weigh in on these matters, don't wait too long.  Hopefully attendees will reach some conclusions (rather than just argue) and take necessary, corrective steps in response.
