If asked, many small business owners would say that budgets are important and that they incorporate them into their business structure. The Financial Dictionary defines a budget as, "a written record of income and expenses during a specific time frame, typically a year." Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that most small businesses are implementing budgets by that definition.
It seems that many small businesses take their "smallness" for granted. It is true that small businesses can be more flexible than large corporations can be, but that doesn't mean that they should neglect areas such as their budgets.

I try to stick to a budget for my safety and security web site. It's hard at times when a good marketing opportunity comes along.
