Positive Holiday Predictions Issued

Online shopping trends strong

The holiday season is a relatively long ways off; small businesses need to navigate their way through the back-to-school rush, Halloween, and Thanksgiving (at least) first.  Still, we thought you'd like to know that a new report makes some positive predictions concerning December 2009.

Here are a couple of disclaimers: Compete's Karen Parker looked at consumer electronics, not retail goods in general.  Also, she only focused on the websites of some rather huge companies.

But Parker concluded, "So, what are my predictions for Holiday 2009?  The early indicators look positive for consumer technology.  As my daughter's Magic Eight Ball says, 'signs point to yes' - meaning that online shopping and buying should be good this year in the consumer technology space."

And since you can be pretty sure that people wouldn't blow money on electronics if their budgets were too tight, this may spell good news for lots of other sectors.  Then, as always, it'll just be a matter of small businesses luring some consumers away from bigger corporations.

So keep your fingers crossed that Parker's forecast comes true.  That might mean there are just five or so more months to go until a significant turnaround.
