Offerings from Google, YouTube, Twitter, Etc. There have been a number of new tools and resources announced over the past week in the online marketing world. Small business owners looking for more ways to expand their online marketing efforts may want to check out some of these things. They're not all for everyone, but you may find something of use to your own endeavors.
1. Sharing YouTube Insight Data
YouTube has started letting users who upload videos choose to share data from its analytics platform YouTube Insight. So basically, if you upload videos, you can have the video page display stats like number of views, demographics (who's viewing them), what regions are getting the most views, etc.
Stats like these can help videos get additional buzz, or show advertisers what kind of buzz your videos are capable of generating. The feature is optional though, so if you're videos aren't very popular, you may find not sharing this info to be a better option.
2. Get to Know Twitter 101
Twitter has posted a new resource online, as Doug reported, which shares a number of case studies about how different businesses use Twitter to their success. It's called Twitter 101, and actually provides more than just that.
Twitter 101 is a good resource to help you understand what Twitter is all about. In fact, they offer a downloadable slideshow and encourage users to use it for presentations within their companies to convince higher-ups that their business should be using Twitter. If you browse through this site, you may pick up some useful ideas.
3. Google's Conversion Optimizer Available for more Campaigns
Google announced that Conversion Optimizer is now available for more campaigns. Now any campaign that has at least 15 conversions in the last 30 days can utilize it. Conversions can be tracked through AdWords Conversion Tracking or as linked Google Analytics Goals.
4. Looksmart's SmartRotation
Looksmart announced a new tool called SmartRotation, which is a cost-per-action (CPA) tool that automatically serves the best-performing ad creative in an ad group, based on conversion data from a tracking pixel.
The tool was previous available in a limited beta, but it is now widely available. Looksmart talked to WebProNews about it earlier this year.
5. Live Streaming Videos Via Twitter
Last but not least, Livestream launched a service that lets you stream live video on Twitter. All you have to do is log on to their site with your twitter info, press a button, and it will automatically detect your camera and create a page and live video player for broadcasting. It then posts the link in your Twitter feed so followers can join in on a live webcast.
This could come in handy for any kind of live announcement you wish to make.
Again, you may not find all of these useful, or in some cases any of them, but the more weapons in your marketing arsenal, the better, in my book. Do with them what you will.
