Official Twitter 101 Guide Unveiled

Business tips, straight from the site

Two weeks ago, we talked about Pizza Hut's Twitter strategies.  Four days ago, a report highlighted how lots of companies have used the site to succeed.  Now, the most definitive "how to Twitter" manual yet's available, as Twitter's introduced something called Twitter 101.

There is a definite focus on business (and usually small business) here, so don't worry that it's all written for grandmas and/or tweens.  Otherwise, the walkthrough is pretty much what you'd imagine and perhaps hope for.

Divided into six sections, it covers topics including "What is Twitter," "Getting started," "Learn the lingo," "Best practices," "Case studies," and "Other resources."  Common-sense questions like "So how do businesses use Twitter?" are answered, and there's advice to keep you from sounding like a spammer, too.

Fair warning: this might be part of a lead-up to get businesses to in some way pay for using Twitter.  But since Twitter will only be able to get money from companies if the companies decide they need it, Twitter's probably giving the best possible advice in the meantime.

So if you're interested in Twitter and have time to do a little reading (the sections tend towards the comprehensive side of things), check out Twitter 101.

Your references to Grandma and Tweens

How many grandma's might be heavily involved in seo, sem, and twitter, etc.?

Think any might be Grandmas???

Perhaps there are Grandmothers who could beat your pants off with social media?

Sounds good...

I've been using social media sites, of which Twitter is among them, to market my safety and security web site for over a year now. This helpful little guide would have saved me much angst during that time. Thanks, Doug, for sharing this with us.

Oh, and by the way, I'm a grandma!

Twitter 101

Doug,

You are awesome. I just started using Twitter and read a blog about using it for friends. But that is not my interest. The blog made it sound like that is all it is for. So I needed this information. But I did not see it on Twitter when I was there yesterday, so they are not making it easily accessable.

Question: Should I share it with others or is it better for me to just use it myself?
