Who says it is outdated?Do you think outdoor advertising is old-fashioned? Although it is one of the oldest forms of advertising, it is definitely still in the game. According to the Outdoor Advertising Market Report: 2009 Edition from Aarkstore Entreprise, outdoor advertising is actually the second fastest growing ad medium behind Internet advertising. The study also predicted outdoor advertising would grow even more in the coming years.
Most everyone experiences outdoor advertising each day especially since people spend more time outside their homes than inside. As illustrated in the above video, outdoor advertising is very versatile. It can be in the form of billboards, ads on sides of buildings, buses, and cabs, or even on various packaging items from local businesses.
While some would argue that technology has moved past outdoor advertising, it actually hasn't. Today, there are digital billboards that morph images and messages and some that even talk!
Others may also say that advertising isn't targeted, but again, it actually is. If you own a bakery, you could place your ads on packaging items from a coffee shop because everyone knows you need something sweet to go along with coffee! :) Isn't that called direct targeting?
Lastly, don't forget that outdoor advertising is cost-effective. It allows for mass reach, visibility, and creativity. Are you convinced now that outdoor advertising is still effective?
