Vouchers Receiving All Sorts Of Attention

Diversity of search terms should give small businesses an edge

Now more than ever, vouchers (or "coupons," if you're not in or near England) represent a great way to get people's attention.  New data from Hitwise indicates that UK searches for terms including the word "voucher" are significantly up from last year.

Robin Goad reported, "UK Internet searches for discount vouchers have increased by 47.5% over the last 12 months."  Goad's statistic covers 4,500 terms, which means he was quite thorough and his conclusions are hard to fault.

The comprehensiveness of the Hitwise research also means that small businesses can get creative when optimizing for coupon- and voucher-related terms, and not go up against big corporations that might otherwise grab all of the attention and traffic.

Goad continued, "UK Internet searches for generic terms such as 'voucher' or 'discount vouchers' have decreased or remained flat.  The growth in voucher searches has come from people searching for ever more specific deals and discounts for particular products or retailers."

So if you want to attract more customers, you may not have to worry about price cuts, which can set a bad precedent.  Vouchers and coupons should present a great way of catching consumers' eyes.

Vouchers

Hi Doug, Good article and about time somebody saw the obvious trends. After almost 30 years in my own businesses I could see that coming as a natural progression, so as an experienced manufacturer, wholesaler, retailer, manufacturing analyst and engineer, I gave some thought to it. Eventually I developed an entire business around a voucher/coupon system and guess what......there is actually a way to structure so that advertisers...the owners of the 'voucher', can actually be given a money back guarantee of buyer numbers. I have developed a way to ensure these become a viral marketing tool, where they guide real buyers at exactly the correct psychological moment to where you wish them to spend. These vouchers would never be discarded like all others. If retailers and service suppliers can get out of their head the old-fashioned fixation that vouchers are 'just a piece of scrap' they would begin to see the value they can be. They can be powerful tools if properly exploited. Here I am NOT talking of any form of supermarket- dockets or any of the current systems actually, as these can only produce slim pickings...there is a much more powerful way forward that can actually give retailers a guaranteed market share...REALLY. While I haven't yet initiated marketing due to a need for a partner, I've done market research with 100% interest so far...so once I find a financial partner this will go live. Meanwhile, if any of your readers want two FREE Advertising Calculators (one shows historical losses and one configures projected expenses for profit) just get them to email me. These REALLY are entirely free and both are extremely powerful digital tools. Totally free, No Obligations at all. Any reader wanting to discuss 'Infinity Vouchers' for worldwide use can email me likewise. It's all ready to go anywhere/everywhere. (Sydney, Australia) Brian
