Google Improves Street View

Small businesses can stand out

The average small business doesn't have a 500-foot storefront covered by flashing neon lights.  It's more likely sandwiched between other companies, with only a small sign.  You might be glad to know, then, that Google's made it much easier to find businesses using Street View.

A post on the LatLong Blog explains, "For example, if you search for 'thai restaurants near mountain view' on Google Maps, and click on a search result, a bubble pops up with various links, including a link to 'Street View.'"

The post then continues, "You can click on the 'Street View' link to see the restaurant marked directly in Street View with a 3D marker just like the one you'd find on the map.  Clicking the marker displays more details about the restaurant without leaving Street View."

Finally, "If you move along the street, you will continue to see the marker in front of the restaurant, letting you see a business in the context of what else is around it."

This development probably won't bring a flood of new customers to your store; it may not even bring any at all.  But if it at least saves people a little trouble in finding your business, that's something.  Driving past a place five times doesn't always put folks in the mood to spend money.

Street View

In my biz I have to go to customers. Street view has been a great help. I can look up, down and all around the street for landmarks and such before I head out the door. I pretty much have a good idea of where to start slowing down an dwhich driveway I want. I think anyone who is behind me appreciates it too.

How do I sue Google?

Search for your competion and give your sale to them!!!

Do you have a link on your page going to a similar business next door to you? Why not this is what Google do!!!

Hey who said Big G could show me walking down the street. How do I sue Google?  Just joking.

Google Street View

I see Google street view becoming a very useful tool for me to assist in assessing a property from the street before I carry out a site visit. As I am involved in Architectural services being able to get as much information about the property before a visit allows me to be better informed before detailed discussions with a client. I look forward to this technology expanding further.
