7 Steps for PPC Keyword Analytics

Straight from Google Itself

If you advertise using pay-per-click, and AdWords in particular, you may use web analytics (or Google Analytics) to track the performance of keywords, and identify ones that perform well. If you don't, you probably should.

Google recently shared 7 steps for doing just that on the Google Analytics Blog, and expanded upon on the company's "Solutions for Southeast Asia" blog. The steps boil down to these:

1. Ensure Goals and E-commerce Tracking are set up

2:. Access the Keywords Report

3. Export non-paid keywords to a spreadsheet

4. Expand the list of keywords using other Google products

5. Download a list of keywords that you are already advertising on

6. Identify keywords you are not advertising on

7. Expand on these keywords and start advertising

Keyword Analytics

Of course, you'll want to read the full explanation to truly grasp what you can get out of following these steps.

AdWords is getting more competitive, now that Google has announced it will allow multiple Google-certified ad networks compete for display ads on AdSense sites. You'll want to maximize your high-performing keywords.

On another AdWords-related note (in case you missed it), last week Google began beta testing the Opportunities tab in AdWords for advertisers in the US, he UK, and Australia. It may even be in all English-language accounts by now.
