Consider Google Penalties a Wake Up Call

You Can Still Set Your Own Alarm Though

Did you know that Google penalties actually have benefits to webmasters? They can serve as a wake up call to take action on a site. This is a topic that Ross Dunn of Stepforth Web Marketing discussed in the latest WebProNews video. He makes a pretty good point.

Nobody wants to be penalized in Google...clearly. But when it happens, you realize that you need to make some changes, and you will actually end up improving your site. It's the whole "What hurts can make you stronger" logic.

Specifically, Dunn talks about a client he had, who had some issues with keyword stuffing and got penalized by Google. When they went back to clean up the site, they got back in Google's "good graces".

Now, you don't want to intentionally spam Google in the first place. They will recognize this, and if you are a spammer, you are not likely to get in their good graces at all. And you shouldn't wait until you get penalized by Google to fix your issues. Have people look at your site if you are unsure if what you're doing is legitimate. Consult with an SEO or seek advice on forums. That is Dunn's advice.

Also in the video Dunn discusses the topic of Google's Caffeine update and how it could impact search engine optimization.

Perfect ideas .We should get more infomations from now ~

idk

I don't think it's smart to be suggesting that anyone should outright go and get their site penalized or that having a penalization will help them especially since it's very difficult to understand and find out why a site is penalized. Google never admits it and never tells you outright that you're being penalized.

It requires a trained eye and skilled practitioner to do this - which is why you may want to hire an seo. Or optionally you can learn it yourself but it'll take time and lots of reading and learning to do so - but you'll save a lot of money this way.

Google

It is best to keep in mind what works well with people. Keyword stuffing does not work well with people. Google wants to make the best sites for people to rank the highest.

Caffeine

The real issue here for me is what Ross mentions about the caffeine update. We don't have enough data about it at the moment, but those that are affected could loose a alot of traffic.

Google Penalty

I wish Google can send an email to the site owner  informing him/her about why they got penalized. Maybe that report should be included in the Google Analytics for those using that functionality.

Fairly rare

More often nowadays websites are not penalized for abuse of keyword (stuffing) and links. More often they are simply filtered back in the results set, which is the best way to approach this in my opinion in order to not incorrectly hammer out businesses that might have been thrown out with the bathwater so to speak.
