Google Asks Small Biz Owners To Support Net Neutrality

"Essential for small business growth on the Web"

Google, while big, has long appeared to have a soft spot in its heart for small businesses.  Now, the search giant with a market cap of about $175 billion is calling on you to join the network neutrality fight for its sake and your own.

Google LogoGoogle issued its request in several places, including a couple of official Twitter accounts and the Small Business Toolkit page it established a while ago.  This is a tip-off that it considers the issue especially important.  If you're not sure why, just keep reading.

Under the "Why You Should Care" heading, Google shared this tidbit: "99% of Americans get their Internet service from a handful of broadband carriers who have a monopoly over Internet access.  These carriers are threatening to implement a new system where they can choose to degrade access to competitors' web sites, favoring access to a corporate partner or their own value-added services to the detriment of a Mom and Pop shop."

Not good, right?  Or perhaps you could stay in the mix, but only if you spent money to participate in a pay-to-play scheme.

Google would like small businesses to show their support for an open Internet by joining its campaign.  The company also suggested, "Contact your members of Congress and help them recognize how the principle of Net Neutrality is essential for small business growth on the Web."

Google Net Neutrality LOL is this a Joke???

Google list sites because of money driving value. The mare cash someone has the higher listing.

I am not talking about PPC here but just thak a look at which sites get listed organicaly first...

It is thoses who have a lot of cash to incease traffic anyway.

This results in unbalanced listings Via Press release, affiliated marketing and off-line marketing, etc...

Google loves small businesses?!! It is a Joke!

Google has killed thousands of small businesses by delisted them without warning, without support, without even giving them a reason.

They dress it up now by putting webmaster help and reconsideration menus, to which they reply with template answers still totally useless for small businesses.

Meanwhile, all along, if by accident they delisted a BMW or a MSN, they "fixed it" immediately.

As a small busines owner, I can't wait for some of these companies to stop limiting Googles overwhelming power on the internet.
