Should You Franchise?

A few factors to consider

Deciding whether or not to franchise your business is a very difficult choice. However, it is a decision that many businesses face as their business grows. But how do you know if it's the right move for your business?

As laid out in the above video, there are a few factors that you should consider before making the move. First of all, make sure you have a clear understanding of what a franchise is. Unfortunately, some business owners view a franchise solely as a means to alleviate their heavy workload and often regret their decision to franchise later.

If you do decide to franchise your business, you are essentially giving someone else the license to use your business's name, brand, logo, and any other intellectual property associated with the business for his own commercial purposes. SmallBusinessNewz recommends that you reach out to a lawyer to make sure all your intellectual property is registered and secured before franchising your business.

Secondly, before you can even begin thinking about a franchise opportunity, your business has to be profitable. This seems like a rather obvious factor, but unfortunately, many business owners put the cart before the horse when they have a "great idea." It also helps to have at least 2 successful locations in order to see how well your business could be expanded in new places.

Thirdly, you need to have an established set of policies in place. Since most franchises operate according to the previous owner's policies to ensure consistency for the customer, it is important to have something for future owners to go by. Abiding by the same set of guidelines also secures a certain level of success.

Franchising is a big step for businesses and should not be taken lightly. As you toss the idea to franchise around, remember the aforementioned considerations and also these words of wisdom from The Franshise King, Joel Libava: "Not every business is right for franchising."

We're growing quickly, as each and every one of the Sport Clips business franchises for sale offers virtually everything a guy (and his son) could want in a men's haircutting shop.
