A whole lot of money may be heading small businesses' way thanks to Bank of America.  The bank has promised to spend $10 billion on products and services from small-, medium-sized, and diverse businesses over the next five years.

It seems that just about any sort of company will be able to get in on the spending spree.  Bank of America's formal announcement concerning this move discussed "advertising, furniture, cleaning, courier service, home inspections, legal services, landscaping, maintenance, photography, security and software," and that is by no means supposed to be an all-inclusive list.

As for the reason behind its decision to spend $10 billion in this manner, Bank of America just portrayed this as a benevolent gesture.  But even if it's a PR stunt or attempt to make up for the whole financial collapse/bailout mess, there don't at this point appear to be any catches that small business owners should worry about.

Instead, just be glad that Brian T. Moynihan, Bank of America's president and CEO, stated, "In addition to extending credit and providing technical assistance and a full range of banking services to our clients, we want to increase our support by purchasing more of their products and services, particularly from small, medium-sized and diverse businesses - coast to coast and across a wide range of industries."

Moynihan also said, "We hope other large companies will do the same."
