This week, Facebook's CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced a very important milestone: his site now has 500 million active users.  Which means Facebook is now more valuable than ever to small business owners, and a new app called "Facebook Stories" helps prove that point.

Facebook Stories is, as Zuckerberg explained on the Facebook Blog, a sort of place "where you can share your own story and read hundreds of others, categorized by themes and locations around the world."  One of the 30 themes is "Small Business."

Small business owners who think they're not getting the most out of Facebook can skim these stories to see how other organizations have used the social network, then.  (Although you should be forewarned that not every story is a detailed work of genius.)

Also, small business owners can use the app to write their own stories for the sake of getting a little more exposure.  (Just know that Facebook's established a length limit of 420 characters.)

Anyway, with 500 million active users, there should be little doubt in anyone's mind that Facebook represents a way to reach people of all types.  And with 500 million users, pretty much any success rate is acceptable, since Facebook is free and every business seems almost bound to establish a relationship with someone.
