Are you not marketing enough? Are your marketing efforts performing effectively? If not, then your business could be in danger. It is extremely important to make sure your marketing strategy is updated and current in order to see that it performs to its full potential.
So, how can you know if you need to give your marketing efforts a boost? In reference to Bill Engvall's famous "Here's Your Sign" album, SmallBusinessNewz shares several signs in the above video that could indicate if your marketing strategy needs modifying.
First of all, try Googling your company's brand or product. What do you find? If your competitors' are way ahead of you, then you probably need to up the ante in terms of marketing.
Search engines like Google look for fresh content to index. Companies that provide regular social media content such as blog posts, Twitter feeds, and maps content tend to be rewarded by the engines. Ultimately, the higher you rank, the better your chances are for catching the customer's attention.
If you've lost numerous customers over "price," then your marketing efforts probably need improvement. You want your customers to choose you for factors relating to quality, communication, experience, service, and more. Customers that value these elements turn into repeat customers and also issue referrals.
Thirdly, if your phone lines aren't ringing like they once did, then it is likely a sign that your marketing has been neglected. This proves that consumers are not being motivated to act. To keep this from happening, marketers should re-evaluate their demographics and psychographics of their target market. Not only could this create new categories and more targeted profiles for customers, but it could also revive the phone lines.
A fourth indication that your marketing might not be what it should be is if your sales staff is not getting in front of its prospects. Not having an email marketing program or not having one that is effective are two plausible reasons this could happen. An email marketing program educates consumers on how and why a company's products and services are important. When this is done, the sales staff stands out.
Another sign that your marketing strategy isn't working is if you don't have a marketing plan. Although it sounds like an obvious step in marketing, some marketers jump into their strategies without creating a plan. On the other hand, some marketers simply haven't updated their plan since their business's origin, which makes it very outdated. Either way, a marketing plan is a critical part of marketing. It should simply include goals, objectives, target market, and products or services.

Marketing Strategy
Product should not be considered sold just because it is placed in your distributor's inventory. Product isn't sold until a customer buys and then wants to buy again. Many companies believe their marketing strategy is working because distributors are placing orders.
